Hi. I have been trying to research house prices for some time and for the last 30 years or so this is pretty easy but when you start getting back further it is quite difficult.
As an example I was trying to look at what they were in 1920 but can only find generalisations. Does anyone know some good site for both house prices from say 1910 onwards and also average wages.
The only info I could find showed the average wage at 20 shillings and said houses were about £500 which made houses something like 500 times wages which is obviously wrong.
Obviously things were quite different back then as there were very little owner occupiers so perhaps this was right with landlords filling the houses with 20 tenants to make it pay, who knows.
Possibly this information does not exist in the forms I want it to but any site would be helpful.
