So it's Friday and I pop in ( and hear the moans over Philips & ors v Francis) and it's dress down Friday.
We had a hard-working temp for a week who is on a work visa from the planet Tango, where it is the law that hair must be ironed flat, and black.
As she most likely followed the dictum that Thursday night is the new Friday night, she played an away game and therefore arrived in her away strip.
That consisted of a cover the essentials black top a waistband pulled down to cover the lower essentials, bare tangonian legs, where even the backs of the knees are orange, and a pir of black hooker heels, with a little modesty or mystery from what is best described as a transparent ankle length black died net curtain
Now the chaps were in a mix of " hang on this is an office, and Wah hey - is she single" and I expected a problem of " I know this has to be dealt with but everyone will be upset".
I was surprised to be quickly approached by two ladies who, having spoken over kettles and via email with the others, all objected to working in the office with someone "dressed like a prostitute".
Definition of a hostile working environment...!? It felt like standing on a land mine.
I almost took the cowards way out and said don't need you we'll pay you, and do deal with the agency, but I asked her to go through something with me and explained that we needed her, work is great but I needed her help with a problem as there are objective standards of dress which the agency want and we want.
With four ladies in my life the answer was easy- money- and to spare blushes and gossip she wandered off to the shops with some "packages to post" and returned in a rather more modest skirt and me £50 lighter :)
One lady in the office, who knows me very well sent me an email" you paid for that skirt didn't you..."me " might have"
Suffice to say I told the agency owner who laughed so hard she couldn't breather and concluded " LHA you never cease to amaze me".
Alls well that ends well.
