I've just bought my first investment property - a 2 bed leasehold flat in a block of about 200. During the initial inquiries I found out that the managing agent and landlords agent were large national organisations who people had reported having problems with so I knew I might be in for a bit of a ride. The agents took 2 months to send through the management pack but the sale went thorough ok.
However, I am getting increasingly fustrated by what seem to be arbitary and steep fees for everything. I had to pay £480 in notice fees, £130 for permission to sublease and I've now been asked for an additional £200 to issue the Certificate of Compliance which is needed for the Land Registry to complete their registration. My solicitor has told me that this is a 3 line letter.
The two companies are not members of ARMA so is there anyone else I can write to about what I see as unreasonable costs?
