Hi
My house is a victorian semi - large rooms with high ceilings. My loft is properly insulated. I have double glazed windows (about 20 years old though). I can't have cavity wall insulation as the walls don't have a cavity. The house is centrally heated (good powerful boiler)but often it just doesn't feel warm enough.
I was thinking of taking up the carpets and floorboards in the bedrooms and then lagging the void between the ceiling and floorboards. Would this make any difference to help keep the place warm?
I don't have curtains at any windows - just venetian blinds - is this wasting energy?
Is there anything else I could do?
My other half said replacing the double glazing should make a big difference but I don't understand how it could? Any ideas?
Many thanks
Claymore
PS - my gas and electric standing orders are at £190 per month for a 3 bed semi :-(
