My landlady lives in France. The UK contact address and phone number belong to her father-in-law who has no authority to act - he simply leaves messages which she seems to be simply ignoring. She has not responded to emails.
Nearly 3 weeks ago I reported (via email) the breakdown of the washing machine - she asked me to get a repair estimate which I did. The domestic services company says it is not repairable and have emailed the landlady with this information. Since then I have emailed twice and left 2 messages with the father-in-law. No response.
The washing machine is listed on the inventory and the T&C's says she will "Keep in repair and proper working order all mechanical and electrical items including all washing machines..." etc.
Do I have any right to hold back some rent?
