I'm keen to re-do my apartment with works to include rewiring as well as some modification. The building in which the apartment is situated was listed in 2001 but the apartment was totally modern before then and had a thorough make over including alterations in 2004 although applications for local authority consent had not been submitted by the previous owner. My intention is to restore the layout to that in 2001 namely put the kitchen back to where it should be at the time the building was listed. Are consents needed in modern apartments regardless of the period appearance of the outside of the building? If so, is consent needed to undo unauthorised works when one is putting back the layout to the time of listing?
