I am the managing agent of a block of nine freehold flats, and I am also one of the residents there.
When a flat is sold, I produce two copies of the Deed of Covenant that regulates the maintenance arrangements for signature by the new owners, and by convention, I charge £75 for this. (Commercial agents in this area charge £150 + VAT.) The solicitor knows there will be a charge, and asks me in advance what it will be.
The purchaser's solicitor usually also has questions that I am happy to answer, but on the current occasion, a conveyancer has produced nine supplementary questions and requests for paperwork that I have spent almost two days assembling and copying. Would it be reasonable for me to send an invoice for my time?
