Hi - we are having issues getting our deposit back from our ex landlord (more will be posted soon as need some clarification on some issues!) but we don't know if he should have put our money in a scheme or not.
We move in in July 2006 and paid our deposit. The lease is a short assured tenancy but we were there until, after giving due notice, 30th April 2013.We have never signed another contract but the rent has increased and been ongoing etc. also he change the contract from his name to the name of his limited company, without our knowledge. We therefore assume it has been renewed every 6 months as per the original terms.
He still has our money and from what we can gather from the 15th May 2013 he should have put this in a deposit scheme but has not. Is this correct? Is this affected by our moving out of the property at the end of April? Or should he still have deposited it because he still has it?
Any advice on this?
