Hello,
I let my flat out to a two tenants who are brothers and DSS. They explained they had been in trouble before and were looking to start afresh. I decided to give them the benefit of the doubt as they had been honest upfront. (Previously my Mum let the flat to a professional through an agency who did a bunk owning rent and having not paid any utilities for the best part of 6 months)
Yesterday the police called to advise they had forced entry to the property and arrested one of the brothers who they believed had actually been living there alone. They repaired the door and gave the tenant the keys back so they are currently in his possession as he awaits court. They also advised me that he had by-passed the electricity meter so they had to call someone out to make that safe.
Can anyone advise me where I stand? What sort of notice do I need to give the tenant, provided he is released next week?
Any feedback would be very much appreciated.
