Garden and deposit

Hi,

We vacated our property on 21st June and took photos of the garden. We put a lot of work into making it tidy. (It wont let me upload them here?)

The estate agent has just sent me an email (after chasing for news about our deposit) that the landlord was pleased with how clean the house was but the garden was very weedy and they are hiring a gardener for this saturday, they will inform us of the cost.

The agreement states: "To keep the gardens driveways pathways lawns hedges and rockeries neat and tidy and properly attended as they were at the start of the tenancy and not to remove any trees or plants."

We moved in January and so obviously the garden looked quite bare as it was winter so we cannot do a direct comparison. There are photos and you can see small weeds but the shrubs are much smaller and there is a lot of bare bed which looks neat and tidy but is also ideal for weeds to grow!

The other thing is that at this time of year things do grow quick and in 8 days the gardener will need to mow the grass again, considering this was all done when we left I don't think it's fair to charge us! After all the hard work my dad and I put in I really dont want to have to pay a gardener.

What do I do??

Thanks.
