Hi,
I'm doing a personal viewing this evening, the agent in question has e mailed me their offer form to submit should I wish to go ahead and rent the property.
They want £240 inc vat as an application charge which on the form in brackets says this is for referencing up to two people. They also want £120 (unsure if inc vat) as a contribution towards the inventory checking and tenancy agreement. So total fees for one person moving in £360... Not to mention the deposit and first months rent
To me that seams a little excessive... Obviously the first months rent and deposit is as standard but I'm struggling to get over how much the fees are. I have worked as a letting agent in the city centre of Birmingham for nearly 8 years and the most I have ever charged for one person moving in with me is £180 inc vat, which included everything needed to move in.
Is this a standard charge for the Birmingham West Midlands area or would people agree this is too expensive and agree that it should be challenged?
