Good afternoon all.
Have regularly browsed these forums but have never bothered to register, until now.
Yesterday, we had our final inspection. After this was done the LL stated he would be keeping £450 of a £650 deposit. When asked the breakdown of this, he said that this figure is due to having to buy new carpets, and also to paint and clean.
Now, the carpets at the property when we moved in had already been at the property for at least 5 years, and also there is no painting needing to be done.
I have checked online with all of the protection schemes, to dispute the amount he was claiming, to find that the deposit is not in a DPS scheme. No wonder he failed to produce the paperwork letting me know where he had protected it!
There was no inventory done when we moved in either.
I am after some advice as to what to do now, this has never happened to us before, as we have always had very good, professional relationship with past LL's.
Any help muchly appreciated.
