Hello,
I'm hopefully going to become a landlord soon, so a bit of forward planning.
I have access to discounts on various reloadable gift card schemes via my employers.
My question is, if I purchase an item/service for the property from a gift card, can the receipt for that good/service be submitted in my tax returns?
An simple example would be, I load up a card with £200 on it, it costs me £190, saving me £10, I then buy a fridge for £200.
The receipt will show that £200 has been spent from my gift card.
Do I submit £200 on my tax returns for this item with my gift card receipt, or would I need to provide my gift card statement which would show that I spent £190 of my own money to "buy" £200 of vouchers?
Thank you for any help as this is a bit of a grey-area methinks!
