Tenant threatening me with Data Protection Act!!!

Hi all,

This is a quickie:

I am a landlord and I have decided to sell one of my properties which is currenly occupied with a tenant.

I instructed a sales agent to do this and i passed the tenants number onto the sales agent so that the sales agent could do viewings etc.

tenant has written to me threatening me with the data protection act claiming that i should have not passed on his details to the sales agent and should have got his permission.

does tenant have a point from a legal perspective?
