S21 or S8 eviction: Moral dilemma??
When someone is evicted they can then go to their local council(s).. for help/housing. If you evict a tenant in breach of his tenancy, do you want him, when he goes, to be a drain upon the taxpayer & get rehoused by the council??
If you do want him to cost us all ££££ evict him via. S21 & he probably will not be found "intentionally homeless" and council will have a duty to help him....
If however you evict him via. S8 he will be found "intentionally homeless", the council will not have a duty to help him (he can appeal but will only get temporary help whilst his case is investigated) and you'll save yourself & the rest of us £££, as well as helping more of the right people to get help.
I appreciate S21 is in many ways more attractive as if the paperwork is right it's a guaranteed route.. whereas S8 can be challenged (disrepair, may some rent to bring owing below 2 months etc etc..) but we all want to be good citizens eh??
For the avoidance of doubt I'm all in favour of those deserving help & benefits getting that help or benefit: It's the scrounging work-shy shyster fiddlers and rip-off merchants I'm not keen on (be they tenant, landlord, agent, council staff, MP, Jeremey-Kyle-audience-member whatever...).
Views guys??
Cheers!
PS For our Scottish readers there are similar options.. AT6, S33, NTQ etc etc etc
