What state shall I leave a property when I leave

No not asking as I am thinking of leaving it a mess!!

More I am talking about how deep cleaned you think it should be, i.e normally I shampoo lighter carpets and air out property and hoover under sofas but normally not wardrobes as they are heavy(but use dustpan and brush)

I even polish the sideboards and such.

I however do not do things like wash curtains, I do not smoke anyway and might only get a guest round who does once a month and have window open most of those times.

I guess I am asking as fed up of landlords finding the slightest fault for keeping part of deposit, had one claim it took 6 hours to clean yet the photos they showed were of a few crumbs of dirt in a cupboard and an old christmas card that fell behind it.

What level of cleanliness should the property be? apart from finding any bits of dirt I can find and hoovering etc what else is good? I plan on using a rented carpet cleaner on the cream carpet however there is a hole in it where a guest once knocked over something before which is noticable but I have been here 2 and a half years, should I even bother renting cleaner if I will be charged for burn?

Also the blinds in bedroom have been broken since shortly after I moved in, since I "broke" them I guess they are my responsibility?
