Letting Agency have left us without a shower for 2 months. Can we claim?

Hi
We moved in to our newly refurbished rental property on 26 October and immediately noticed that the shower was of very poor quality. It is powered by 7 watts of electric and although fine when using cold water, as soon as you turn the heat up it is unusable due to the poor pressure. The water literally trickles out. We reported this straight away. In the meantime two workmen have visited the property for quotes but we have not had any news since. I have rung them a few times and I always seem to get brushed off.
If my TV service had a major fault on it for nearly 2 months I would expect some money off my subscription. It has been very difficult not having a workable shower for this long and we are fed up with it now.

Can I insist they replace the shower immediately or threaten to pay them a reduced rent next month? i.e. 10% less.

I believe they have taken far too long to sort out such an important thing. I don't want to go down this route but everything (there are other problems) seems to be taking ages to fix.

Thanks.

Sorry the letting agency have just got back to us to say the landlord is happy to go halves with us on the shower. I am happy to do this because I just want it sorted. The question above still applies in theory though.
