Hi our letting agent have ceased trading owing us 4 months rent. They have written to us stating this and advising us to collect the rent directly from the tenant but no mention of the rent already paid to them from the tenant. We have met with the tenant and they have indeed paid the rent by direct debit each month. The LA have left their premises with no forwarding address. I have contated the insolvency helpline and so far the LA agent have not been struck off by companies house although they are chasing them for accounts currently. Is there anything we can do to get our money. Surely this is a breach of contract. We do have a written contract from the LA. I understand it will cost us £1500 if we were to wind it up through the high court. Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
