Contractual Periodic Tenancy or Statutory Periodic Tenancy for notice period

Hi,

I wonder if anyone can help me figure out if I have a contractual or statutory periodic tenancy. I now wish to give notice and need to determine if the contractual 2 month notice period is valid or not. Terms of the AST were thus:

2) The tenancy shall be from and including the 01 July 2010 to and including 31 December 2010 and thereafter from month to month until the tenancy hereby created shall be determined by the Landlord serving on the Tenant two months notice in writing or the Tenant serving on the Landlord two months notice in writing expiring upon the last day of the month.

9.8.3) References to 'the Term' or 'the Tenancy' include any extension or continuation thereof or any statutory periodic tenancy which may arise following the expiry or determination of the period of the Term specified in Clause 2.

The reference in Clause 2 implies a contractual periodic tenancy. yet clause 9.8.3 implies a statutory periodic tenancy.

Any help please as to whether I can give 1 month notice or if I am bound to the 2 month notice period.
