Company Let or AST?

I am a private landlord who rented a property to a tenant who is a limited company, through a letting agent. A standard company let tenancy agreement was signed by both myself and the tenants, company director who was to take up occupation in the property.

Few months into the tenancy due to delays in rent payment caused by the delays in the co director of the company authorising payment.

The director requested that the tenancy be changed to his name and he would responsible for the rent going forward; which i agreed to.

I then requested the letting agents to amend the tenancy to change the company name into the name of the director; an addendum was then issued which was signed by me and the tenant.

Is the original company let tenancy still valid? or will the tenancy now be deemed to be an AST; since the tenant has changed from the company to an individual, be it the director of the limited company? If the tenancy is now deemed an AST, am i now required to retrospectively protect the tenants deposit?
