Hi all,
I've searched through the forum but just want to double check the situation before I write to my landlord. Basically I live in a student house with 8 others. After the Christmas holidays I returned to find a large stain on my ceiling, which was caused by a leak of some sort. My landlord sent round a few people to carry out repairs, plaster and decorate the affected ceiling and wall. Before I left for Easter, there were no more concerns as the stain had not reappeared and as far as I was aware, the problems had been resolved.
I have just returned from my Easter break and found the part of the ceiling has collapsed, an area of roughly the size of a normal door. The weight of the plasterboard, bricks and nails that fell down would have caused serious of injury had I been back two days before when my housemates heard a crashing noise. My television also has debris down the back and no longer switches on.
I would be really grateful if someone could tell me what I can do from here. If it had happened with no warning I would be a lot more forgiving, but having reported and apparently had it fixed I'm not too pleased about it. It's exam and coursework time and not really an ideal situation to be in! My landlord is quite nice and understanding so I'm hoping she'll be sympathetic, but I just wanted to check what happens if she isn't!
Many thanks
