I posted this on the Scottish forum but no replies but I guess it is also applicable to England. Question is.
How do you return a protected deposit on the day a tenant leaves?
So far I have only had to return 2 protected deposits since the scheme began, the first one was repaid to me as the tenant had outstanding rent. The other one I have just requested to be returned to the tenant today and was informed that it can take up to 5 working days.
Fortunately the tenant is ok with this. However if this tenant was moving into somewhere else on the same day as they left my property this would mean they would have to find a second deposit for the new place before receiving repayment of the other one. Has anyone else had to deal with this scenario?
