Inventory Validity

Hi All,

First off I apologise if this has been asked before, I have tried searching but not found what I was looking for.

I am currently in the process of moving out of a 3 bed flat, it is/was a joint tendency with all tenants now moving out.

Previously the flat had almost a revolving door policy where if a tenant wished to move out they found a replacement tenant, notified the management company - who handled the paper work, contracts etc - and tenants swapped deposits. This is how all 3 of us current tenants have come to be.

However this is the first time the contract is being terminated (our use of the break clause) and the management wish to perform a check out on our last day - which is fair enough!

However, as all three of us never had a check in, we thought it would be logical to get access to the inventory from the check in. The management company were helpful enough to provide this.

But this is where my concern comes in. The inventory is dated from 2008 and was signed by the 3 original tenants - I believe a total of 7 different tenant (inc me) have lived in this property.

Where do we stand with regards to this inventory, is it still valid? Can we be held accountable for anything that the other 4 tenants would have accountable for? I don't believe these is anything fundamentally wrong with the flat, above natural wear and tear, but I fear we might get held accountable for removal of items which do not belong to the management company but left behind by previous tenants.

Any advice would be much appreciated.

Cheers

James
