My friend has handed notice on as AST with the move out date being end of May. The Letting agency managing the property has behaved poorly with viewings, not giving 24 hours notice, turning up unannounced, changing times without notifying and letting themselves in without even knocking first.
Unfortunately my friend and her partner have become ill with the stress of these intrusions and recently asked the agency to suspend viewings till they were out of the property. The agency then pointed out a clause in the AST which says
"Within the last two months of the Tenancy, allow the Landlord access with 24 hours notice to show the Property to potential tenants and or buyers as well as any agency that the Landlord may employ to let or sell the Property on behalf of the Landlord."
The agency have also said failure to allow access will result in money being deducted from the deposit. Is this legal? I think not, but am not 100% sure.
