Hi. I served an Section 21 to our tenant of 3 yrs, over 2 mths ago (21/3/13), with the end date being today, 6th June 2013. She was in agreement that she needed to vacate the property due to essential renovation works due to a condensation problem. She is DSS and a single parent (her teenage son is living with the Dad at the moment). I was wary of taking her on, but we did & she has been no problem.
She has been actively looking for private landlords. In the past few days she has been tearful on the phone & said that she can't find anywhere, and so today when I went over - she was clearly not ready to move out albeit all started packing.
I agreed to give her another month, and if she moved out within that time we'd refund obviously. I took her a Tenant 1 month notice to quit. She didn't want to sign this as this will not entitle her to be re-housed by the council, as she will seen as voluntarily leaving. An avenue she has just started to look into due to lack of landlords that will take her on.
1. What do I need to provide to extend the month?
2. Does this affect my section 21 that I have already issued IF I then need to start eviction/court proceedings?
Any advice greatly appreciated.
