My landlord wants to end their contract with the letting agency as they are unhappy with their services. He wants me to stay on as I am a good tenant. My 6 months AST ends on the 18th July. The agency said I was their client and that while I lived their he could not break the contract unless he served notice on me. He was under the impression that he could do the final inspection, say everythings ok, end the contract and then just carry on with me still in the house. I am so stressed because I am caught in the middle of this. I paid a lot of money and do not deserve to go through this. The agency have rung me and said they have to do the final inspection and that if the property is not empty of everything then I will lose my deposit and will be seen as still living there. The notice served was just a letter from the agency stating I had one months notice to move..dated from 19th to end of my tenancy. And that is all it says apart from leaving it clean etc. My daughter is also a tenant on the agreement but her name is not mentioned. Shelter have advised me that the notice is invalid as it should be 2 months and that it is not even written out properly. Can all this really happen to a tenant who is being made a scapegoat because of their dispute?
