Stalag Luft " Supermarket"

A certain supermarket is changing its image but it is noticeable in one store that the range of products is dwindling, as is the number of special offers, and increasing empty spaces. Nearby, another supermarket is getting busier and busier and its common to hear it said “No there is no point going there, they never have X”.

Now having dispatched customer people to ask “ how did you find our new improved us today” and help find stuff that, for no apparent reason, has been moved around eg toilet roll where the biscuits were, doesn’t really help, and you would hope that giving a constructive response might have got a decent reply.

I don't know how they imagine that focusing on high turnover products ( because of it seems falling sales),or playing musical chairs with the fruit juice, is going to help when most of their business is in the lunch period when people don’t have time to wander about. Surely if it were true, they would fill the empty spaces?

Refitting with grey soviet style commissary shelving is hardly a refit and doesn’t scream “ quality”. A wander to the busy competition and even the local corner shops, would show better fittings, and that clearly they are out of step.

But that’s what you get when you employ media students who drifted into marketing. I am still stunned that people become so inward looking and deluded.


Time to throw away the loyalty card.
