My daughter is about to move from one rented house in north London to another. She'll be sharing with three other girls.
The draft tenancy agreement they've been sent for the new house requires them to 'maintain a comprehensive insurance policy with a reputable company to cover both the property and the landlord's fixtures, fittings, furniture and effects.
Is this usual? She's certainly not required to do this under the terms of her current tenancy. I am a landlord myself, and consider it my responsibility to insure my tenanted property and fixtures and furniture that belong to me in that property.
Can my daughter request that this clause is removed before signing the agreement?
