This is my first post.
I have lived in my private rented property since May 2009, and I have been waiting for the letting agents to make repairs since I moved in.
As time as gone on I have contacted the Local Council Private Housing & Public Protection Sector, they came out and did an inspection, and have uncovered several more safety items on-top of the additional repairs.
These include replacing missing balusters & refix an insecure handrail, Loft Insulation, Overhaul the windows (Two of which don't open), repair the central heating thermostat and investigate the cause of the damp and mould growing on the wall next to the front door.
The letting agents are still ignoring us, have have not responded to the local council since December 2012.
What rights do I have as a tenant, can I take the Letting Agents to court, and ask for restitution or at least protection of my bond so the cost of these repairs are not taken out of it.
Any help would be appreciated.
