Just returned from having my brand new spanking EPC done:
I drove 5 miles to get there.
I drove 5 miles to get back home.
The kindly EPC lady said she drove 43 miles to get there.
The kindly EPC lady said she drove 40 miles to get to her next assignment (selling solar panels).
I took two hours off work.
My back of the envelope calculation indicates that a nice old fashioned 60W incandescent bulb burning 5 hours a day for 5 years, versus a new twirly complicated one for the same time
would just about balance the energy cost of doing the EPC itself
and cannot determine any possible benefits from the EPC.
And there is the £52 I paid which effectively comes straight from my tenants. And there is my time, worth at least the same.
Can any kind reader here refer me to any academic paper or model of the EPC scheme which suggests that (taking all the relevant actualities into considation) it actually saves more energy than it wastes
and that it lessens those choking atmospheric gases, more than it increases them.
If there are no such studies, or any scientific peer review, why are we voting for governments that implement this crud.
Any why are tenants, landlords and those wonderful bodies such as the NLA not rioting aboout this. Instead they quietly go along....
