Hi Im hoping someone here can shed some light on the possible reasons as to why my landlord is acting the way he is!
Ive been with the same landlord since 2009 and moved into his 3 bed property in 2011.
compared to what HB was giving me and what my landlord was charging, there was always a shortfall which I rarely managed to cover. In 2011 I also became a full time student living on the loan and grants which made it even harder to cover the shortfall in rent. My landlord has been aware of my financial situation since 2010. anyway to ty andd shorten the story, in jan 2013 my arrears mounted to over 5500 pound (over 5 months rent). Again I explained that I cant cover the rent and made a formal agreement to pay a standing order each month of 40 to reduce the arrears. in march 2013 my rent was increased again.
I really have tried to find somewhere else to live but because Im a full time student with two small children no one will consider me and im looking every day. The council wont help me as I need an eviction notice. ive actually begged my landlord to evict me so I stand half a chance of getting somewhere affordable but he refuses too, his words were "i dont have any intention of ever evicting you". why is he doing this??? Im getting into more and more debt each month and have nowhere else to go. I cant walk away and make myself intentionally homeless.
I have spoken to Shelter, Civil Legal, CAB, the council and numerous solicitors and they cant help me, they are just as confused as I am.
